it is about the people who will inhabit those spaces to live, work, and play.

We believe that real estate development is about more than just sticks and bricks —

  • URBAN DEVELOPMENT CONSULTING

To understand the significance of Durham’s downtown redevelopment efforts, you must first begin with Greenfire Development. Founded in 2003, Greenfire Real Estate Holdings (formerly Greenfire Development) is a diversified real estate firm that acquired and master-planned the redevelopment of 30 distressed properties in downtown Durham where 80% of the properties overall were underutilized. In addition to serving as a master developer, Greenfire served as a fund manager, asset manager, tax credit developer, and property manager for its diversified portfolio. As a partner in Greenfire Development, Carl was involved in some of downtown Durham’s most notable redevelopment projects including: 21c Museum Hotel/ iconic Hill building, Baldwin Lofts, Durham Kress Condominiums, Rogers Alley, Legacy Tower (NC Mutual building), and the historic Trust building.

Jack Clayton

Carl and his team were responsible for government, community and relations for our effort to develop and launch Southpoint Mall. Not only did we receive support of elected officials and opinion leaders, but due to their media efforts we received an enormous amount of media coverage resulting in record one-day sales and traffic numbers during our grand opening day.
